King Street Cinema Installs New Projector Thanks to Generous Donations and Support
26 July 2023
Following a successful GoFundMe campaign, King Street Cinema has seen the installation of a new digital projector to replace its aging model, installed over 15 years ago.
Installed by King Street Cinema’s engineering firm, Omnex Pro Film, the new projector will secure cinema operations for at least another 15 years.
The new projector and the technological advancements it brings, will allow King Street Cinema to deliver a better customer experience well into the future, with a brighter and more stable image, meaning the destination on every customer's journey during a King Street Cinema visit is better than it has ever been.
The new projector and server combined, secure King Street Cinema’s ability to offer greater flexibility in its operations, including live events, conferences and private hires, and opens up opportunities for King Street Cinema to strengthen its relationships with local business in offering the venue as a fully functioning hire venue.
Statement of thanks from our Managing Director, Daniel Champion
The purchase of this projector would not have been possible without the unparalleled generosity of our customers who - in challenging financial times - donated to a GoFundMe launched in May of this year to raise funds for this replacement. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to all those who donated; this was truly a community project in the best of ways and we are grateful beyond measure for such support.
I would like to thank our partners in Ipswich’s arts quarter who supported this fundraiser including the Ipswich Film Society for their generous donation, New Wolsey Theatre, DanceEast, BBC Radio Suffolk and Ipswich Community Radio. Additionally I would like to thank Joolz Guides for producing our fundraising video, and our engineering firm, Omnex Pro Film, who have demonstrated unwavering support to all independent cinema operators throughout what has been an extremely challenging time for the sector.
Of great importance is our relationship with Ipswich Borough Council, whose commitment to independent cinema in Ipswich remains unchanged since the day the Borough established the Ipswich Film Theatre in 1975. We would particularly like to thank the Arts & Entertainment team and local councillors whose generous support of independent arts in Ipswich is one of the strongest in the country.
